SMASHing Out Social Inequalities
In order to smash systems of inequalities, we must develop the talents of underrepresented youth to become agents of change within their communities. Through our intensive and holistic STEM focused education, SMASH is building a strong, diverse, and socially conscious tech workforce.
On Friday, June 5th, SMASH hosted a national discussion with the SMASH community to ensure that Scholars and their loved ones have a safe space to connect, learn, and take action to address the social inequalities that are plaguing our country. Special guests included DeRay McKesson, co-founder of Campaign Zero, and Nastassia Janvier, current NAACP Next Generation Fellow.

SMASH’s integrated approach to STEM education, not only prepares our scholars, like Ja’Nya for the ever-changing workforce, but it also develops our scholars into the next generation of socially conscious leaders who are making sure their voices are heard and are finding solutions to SMASH out the systems of inequalities that feed institutional racism.
